End Mandatory Parole Petition

From the CO-CURE forum:
There are a few of us that have an online petition to end mandatory
parole in Colorado. Discretionary parole is not being affected by
this petition, only the ridiculous idea that mandatory parole works
and is necessary. We all know that it’s nothing but a double
sentence, that the recidivism rate because of it is sky high, that
more people are revoked on parole because of technical violations than
new crimes, that parole actually contributes to new crimes because
offenders give up from the stress of being “stalked” by their parole
officers and parole officers do everything they can to put people back
in prison instead of doing whatever they can to help them succeed. I
am posting a link to the petition. Once we get to 500 names, it will
go to the Governor and House and Senate.

We want to end mandatory parole and have the funds for it used for
mental health programs and rehabilitation in prison. Those are needed
more than parole and it’s been proven time and again that mandatory
parole does not work, it sets people up for failure.

Please sign and comment on the petition. Comments help even more than
signatures, reading some of these stories shows people how tough
parole really is. Thanks for your help!
